How to Install CM12.1 based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS on Motorola Moto X Play.





Now, you can install CM 12.1 only if you first root your Moto X Play. You see, the ROM will have to access in built settings and modify in built features, apps and processes. Of course, this type of access can be ensured only by the root procedure. Moreover, the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop based firmware is offered in form of a custom .zip file. So, you will need to use a custom recovery image in order to complete this update operation – in that respect.

÷ How to Install CM12.1 based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS on Motorola Moto X Play.

1- On your computer download the required files: from here get the CM 12.1 package and from here the Google Apps file.

2- Don’t unzip any of these files; just place them on desktop.

3- Now, connect your Moto X Play with your computer by using your phone’s USB cable.

4- Transfer the downloaded files from desktop to your phone; when done, remove the USB cord.

5- Power off your device, wait a few moments and then enter recovery mode on your Android device.


6- As mentioned before, you will now have to wipe the system of your smartphone; so, select “wipe data factory reset”, “wipe cache partition” and “wipe dalvik cache”.

7- After doing so, return to main menu of recovery and pick “install zip from SD card” followed by “choose zip from SD card”.

8- Load the CM12.1 firmware file and install the ROM on your X Play.

9- Repeat the last step and load and install the Google Apps package.

10- When done, from main menu of recovery select “reboot system now”.

That’s all; now you can test and use the CM 12.1 custom ROM on your own Motorola Moto X Play.
