Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 Official CM 12.1 ROMs are based on the latest AOSP Android 5.1.1 builds, so you should be getting a firmware close to vanilla Android just like the ones present on all the Nexus phones. However, besides all the stock Android features you will also be getting tons of extra goodies added by the CyanogenMod team.

÷ Prerequisites:
•Use this tutorial only for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Verizon model.
– do not try to update any other devices with the files that you will find in this post.
•Your Verizon Galaxy S4 smartphone has to be running a rooted firmware and a custom Recovery has to be installed on it.
– the installed custom Recovery has to be updated to its latest build, so that it supports the installation of the latest Android 5.1.1 ROMs.
• Check the battery charge level and make sure that it is over 50%, as it will prevent the phone from powering off.

÷ How to install CM 12.1 Android 5.1.1 Stable ROM for Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4:
1- Download the CM 12.1 SNAPSHOT zip file and Gapps for Android 5.1.1 ROMs.
2- You can transfer both zip files to your PC after the downloads are complete.
– do not extract the archived contents.
– after the files are moved with success you can disconnect the phone from PC.
3- Switch off the device and boot Custom Recovery Mode.
4- First thing that you need to do is to create a full restore point for the installed ROM:
– CWM: select the ‘backup and restore’ option.
– TWRP: select ‘backup’ option.
– set a name for the file and confirm process.
5- Now you can factory reset the Galaxy S4:
– for CWM select ‘wipe data/ factory reset’.
– for TWRP select ‘wipe’ menu.
– confirm the factory reset and continue to the next step.
6- Initiate the CM 12.1 Android 5.1.1 installation:
– CWM: select ‘install zip from sdcard’, then ‘choose zip from sdcard’.
– TWRP: select ‘install’.
7- Find the CM 12.1 SNAPSHOT file and confirm its flashing process.
8- When the ROM is flashed you can install the Gapps zip in the same way.
9- After all the new files are installed you can reboot the Galaxy S4 in normal mode.
NOTE: the first boot process of this new ROM is going to take a while before it loads all the new files. Do not press any buttons until the “optimizing apps” / welcome screen of CM 12.1 appears. Use your usual Google info in order to regain complete control over your phone.
