Step 1. Make sure you have installed the Galaxy Note 5 TWRP recovery.
Step 2. Download the Noble Kernel file on your Galaxy Note 5. If you download it on PC, be sure to transfer it to Galaxy Note 5. This file contains the auto-root code, and upon flashing this in TWRP, your device will be rooted.
Step 3. You can disconnect the Galaxy Note 5 from PC.
Step 4. Boot Galaxy Note 5 into recovery mode. For this:
Power off your Galaxy Note 5. Wait for 4-5 seconds after screen goes off.
Press and hold Power+Home+Volume up button together until you see Samsung’s logo on the screen. You will enter TWRP recovery soon. If you see 3e recovery written at top, then you need to install TWRP recovery, which is a must, see step 1 for this.
Step 5. [Optional] Create a backup. Tap on backup, and then select partitions of your choice, preferably all of them, and then do the Swipe action at bottom to start backing up the whole phone! It would always come very handy in case anything bad happens to phone. Go back to TWRP’s main screen by tapping on Home button at bottom left corner.
Step 6. On main screen of TWRP, tap on Install, and then browse and select the SuperSU file. On next screen, just do the Swipe action at the bottom to root your device.
Step 7. Tap on Reboot System to restart the device.
Step 8. Install the SuperSU app from the play store. Open it, and you will have root access.
That’s it. You are done, your Galaxy Note 5 is rooted.
