How to install Android 5.1.1 LMY48M Factory Image for Google Nexus 9 LTE

Google Nexus 9 LTE Android 5.1.1 LMY48M firmware build comes with security fixes and user interface improvements. There are no major changes added with this new build, but you should be getting an improved Lollipop OS.

Installing a factory image file for an Android device can be done to remove all the files stored in it or as an upgrading tool. If you want to use the LMY48M firmware as an upgrade you can do it only over the LMY48I stock Android 5.1.1 build and only this particular version.

÷ Prerequisites:

•Use this post only with the Google Nexus 9 LTE devices.
– do not try to update any other tablets with the files that you will find in this post.
– your tablet should be the ‘volantisg’ model.

– you can avoid the whole factory reset process only if your tablet sports a 100% stock Android firmware build number LMY48I.
– more info on how to avoid the ‘factory reset’ can be found under the tutorial part of this post.

•If your tablet runs on a modified ROM, then you can’t avoid the factory reset process.

•Root will not survive the installation of a factory image.

•Make sure that the USB Debugging option is enabled under the Developer Options.
– if you can’t find the Developer Options menu, then you will have to un-hide it first:

– that is where you will need to place the factory image files.install the Google USB Drivers on your PC in case your tablet is not detected by your computer.

Since you’ve completed all the steps above you can begin the installation of Android 5.1.1 for your tablet.

1- Download Android 5.1.1 LMY48M Factory Image archive from here.

2- Extract the contents in the factory image archive. Place all the files in the ‘platform-tools‘ folder.

4- Now boot it in Fastboot Mode.
– leave the tablet in Fastboot/ Bootloader mode.

5- Next, connect it to your PC via USB cable.
– verify that the device was detected by the computer.
– if the tablet is not recognized you can try to re-install the usb drivers.

6- You can now start the installation of the factory image.
Double click on the flash-all.batscript. Confirm all the changes.

7- After the update is done you can see a confirmation alert shown on your PC.

8- Press any key to reboot the Nexus 9 in normal mode.

9- You can unplug the device from computer after the reboot has started.
– note that the first boot process of this new ROM is going to take a while before it loads all new files.
